Paris’ Town Hall Loves the Games

Since 30 June 2004, Paris’ Town Hall has been decked out in the colours of Paris’ Olympic Bid. The huge banner is the capital city’s way of crying out its “L'Amour des Jeux”, and will remain in place until 6 July 2005.

The banner, which extends 5.95 metres vertically and 10.75 metres lengthwise, offers another weighty sign of the City of Paris’ commitment to its Bid for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Having been put up on 30 June 2004, it will continue to assert “L'Amour des Jeux” until 6 July 2005, when the Host City for the Games of the XXX Olympiad will be officially announced.

The operation adds to a whole range of trimmings rolled out since Paris was officially designated Candidate City, last 18 May. From the smallest streets to the main thoroughfares, Paris has donned the Bid Colours, using posters and banners.  The Paris Transport Authority, one of the corporate partners to Paris 2012, has joined in, lending the sides of its underground vehicles and buses.

Paris’ mobilisation does not stop there. Next in line in the decking-out operation are the Eiffel Tower, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Associations, the Ile-de-France Regional Council and the French National Olympic Committee.
