Only one month after its launch, more than 1 200 architects and designers from
over 55 countries, have registered on the Paris 2012 website to submit their project
proposals for an Olympic Landmark.
Delighted with this, Philippe Baudillon, Paris 2012’s Chief Executive Officer,
commented: "The spirited response demonstrates that Paris remains an international
icon and place of inspiration for architecture and design."
A jury composed of representatives of the Paris 2012 Bid and of renowned international
architects, including Jean Nouvel, will select the best project in September 2004.
The Olympic Landmark will be erected in December 2004 in Les Batignolles, the
planned site for the Olympic Village, should Paris be selected to host the 2012
Games. The Landmark will be launched in January 2005.
