From Athens with love

While the Greek capital city has been hosting the Olympic Games since the 13th of August, Paris 2012 has maintained its temporary headquarters at the Club France. The French National Olympic Committee is hosting the Paris 2012 team, in accordance with the Candidature Acceptance Procedure laid down by the IOC. Every day, athletes, coaches, journalists, supporters and other personalities are invited to visit and relax in a convivial atmosphere.

It has now become a daily ritual for visitors to gather at Club France   In a space adorned with the colors of the Paris 2012 Bid, Olympic medalists Florence Masnada, Jean Luc Cretier, Olivier Lenglet and Thierry Rey welcome numerous visitors. Visitors can use this venue to watch competitions on a giant screen, share their feelings about the Athens Games and show their support to the Paris 2012 Bid.

Every evening, the French Olympic medalists of the day are warmly welcomed and congratulated by Jean-François Lamour, French Minister of Sports, and Henri Sérandour, President of the French NOC.

Swimmer Laure Manaudou, fencer Brice Guyart, and Tony Estanguet, all gold medalists, have already received gifts from Paris 2012 for their achievements.

French champions of years past, including Jean Claude Killy and Guy Drut, as well as French members of the IOC, Jean Philippe Gatien, Stéphane Diagana, Sébastien Flute, Brahim Asloum and Colette Besson are present to share in the exceptional achievements of current Olympic competitors.  Media consultants and former Olympic champions Marie-Jo Pérec, David Douillet, Philippe Boisse, and Edgar Grospiron, are also amongst the "usual suspects" at the Club de France.

This Paris 2012 facility is the only promotional function allowed by the IOC during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Athens.

Ideally situated at the Piraeus port, our home at Club France provides people with the opportunity to discover the concept behind Paris 2012 and take away a better understanding what France envisions for the Olympic Games, and receive a Paris 2012 collector's pin.  Club France welcomes everyone to stop in, say hello and enjoy the 2004 Summer Olympic Games with the Paris 2012 family.
