If Paris is chosen to host the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympiques, the effects will be realised without delay.
Between 2005 and 2012, "the preparation, organization and the consumption linked
to the event are valued at 6 billion Euros and should generate 60.000 jobs".
A "considerable economical impact" outlined Philippe Baudillon, CEO of Paris 2012.
This impact would be "major regarding employment and professional experience", but it would also be felt culturally as well.
In 1924, the year of the last Games in Paris, a high level cultural program benefited from the contributions of Picasso and
Max Ernst. For 2012, the project is based upon "a comprehensive program of an
excellent standard". For Philippe Baudillon, "France must show that it produces
a high quality of culture and welcomes international artists."
Of course, the 2012 Games will have a strong impact on French society. Philippe Baudillon underlined the "positive" aspects of the event on the Ile
de France Region, for the population's morale and the "lift" that it would represent
for both sports and youth.
The Ile de France Region has already voted to financially guarantee 1 billion Euros for the 2012 Games. On its part, the State will participate
in the order of 1.2 to 1.3 billion. |
