A spectacular fireworks performance was displayed on the night of December 31 to celebrate the New Year, as well as Paris’s candidature to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.
Starting from the Jardin des Tuileries and from the Grande Roue - especially installed on the Place de la Concorde - the fireworks display was
seen from the world famous Champs- Elysées.
As a testimony to "L'Amour des Jeux", the Grande Roue was adorned with the "Paris 2012" logo, reinforcing France's
love of sport and demonstrating its appreciation for tradition and festivities.
The pyrotechnic spectacle started at 11.50pm, and lasted eight minutes. Displayed to a fast rhythm, some of the fireworks
reached a height of approximately 150 metres.
