Star Line up for "Club des Ambassadeurs"

Athletes, dignitaries and personalities from around the world give "L’Amour des Jeux" to the French bid. Paris 2012 officially unveiled a unique list of athletes, artists, opinion formers and business leaders from around the world who join forces to support the French Olympic bid.

Among the Ambassadors are Olympic and Paralympic champions and renowned athletes from five continents including:
- Algeria and their world champion of 800 metres, Djabir Said-Guerni
- Germany and their canoe kayak champion Birgit Fischer and handballer Stefan Kretzschmar, and the World Athletic pole vault silver medallist Annika Becker
- South Africa and their rugby coach Nick Malett
- Australia and their world rugby champion John Eales
- Russia and the 20km walk champion Valiantsina Tsybulskaya
- Brasil and their horse jumping champion Rodrigo Pessoa
- Bulgaria and their Olympic gymnast Maria Petrova
- Canada and Diane Roy, World Athletics silver medallist in 2003 in 800m chair
- Denmark and Tom Kristensen, the six time winner of the Le Mans 24 hour auto race
- The United States and their triathlete Mark Allen
- Italy and their fencing champion Valentina Vezzali
- Japan and their sumo wrestling champion Takanohana
- Norway and their biathlete Liv Grete Poiree
- Sweden and their handballer Magnus Wislander
This multinational club has the full support of French sport communities, including athletes from Laure Manaudou (swimming) to Alain Mimoun (athletics) plus Marie-Jose Perec and Michel Jazy (athletics), Jackson Richardson (handball), David Douillet (judo), quadruple 2004 Paralympics Gold Medalist Assia El Hannouni to football stars Zinedine Aidane and David Ginola, all supporting the bid.
Other personalities, from the arts, science and business world to the political sphere who support the bid include:

- President of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ali Mohamed Thunayan Al Ghanim
- Businessman in Kuwait, Youssef Abdelatif Al Shaya
- Former Mayor of the Sydney Olympic Village 2000, Australian Sally Anne Atkinson
- President of the Accor Asia Pacific, David Baffsky
- President of the Singapore National University, Shih Choon Fong
- Former European Commissioner, Etienne Davignon
- The Mayor of Dakar, Pape Diop
- Former President of Bulgaria, Jeliou Jelev
- Leading international designer, Japanese Issey Mayake
- Senegalese Singer Youssou N’Dour
- Senegalese Scluptor Orbanusmane Sow
- President of Arts National Conservatoire and prominent archietect and urban planner, of Singapore Liu Thai-Ker
- Member of the European Parliament and champion rally driver, Ari Vatanen
Bertrand Delanoe, Mayor of Paris and President of Paris 2012 said, "We are deligted to welcome the first ambassadors of Paris 2012, all of whom are united by a passionate desire to bring the Olympic Flame to Paris. We are grateful for their generous support and endorsement of the Paris Olympic Bid".
