RATP, an official supporter of Paris 2012, has decided to launch the special ticket to welcome the Evaluation Commission
of the International Olympic Committee, from the 9th to 12th of March, 2005.
10 million commemorative Paris 2012 tickets will be on sale, for the same price as a regular metro ticket (1.40 Euro). This
ticket also provides access to all RER trains and buses that operate in Paris.
In addition ; four million metro plans with the colors of Paris 2012 will be distributed
free of charge.
Gilles Alligner, RATP Communications Director, said "Last time a special edition metro ticket was issued was to celebrate the
enlargement of the European Union. We were sold out of these tickets in a matter
of days. Collectors from all over the globe hunted for them".
This initiative has been taken by the STIF (Ile de France Transport Union), RATP and SNCF.
