A short film directed by Christophe Baratier,
the Academy Award-nominated director of the highly acclaimed motion picture Les
Choristes, will be the main feature of the new Paris 2012 campaign, unveiled on
the Champs Elysées yesterday. The launch highlights the national support for Paris’s
bid to host the 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Initiated by the Paris 2012 Corporate Club,
the campaign, entitled "My heart beats for Paris 2012" focuses on a simple gesture
as an expression of L'Amour des Jeux -- the hand on the heart as a symbol of passion
for the Games.
The 45-second film directed by Mr. Baratier
highlights sport and culture in a moving celebration of France’s Olympic passion.
The film features regular French men and women, as well as sports stars including
players of the French National Football Team and Olympic Boxing Champion Brahim
Asloum. The French movie star Jean Reno lent his voice to the film’s slogan: "Your
heart beats for the Games, declare it". As a musical background, beating hearts
offer an “Olympic” reinterpretation of the internationally famous melody performed
by Josephine Baker: "J’ai deux Amours, les Jeux et Paris" ("I have two Loves,
the Games and Paris"). The film will air on France’s main television channels
TF1 and France Television between May 10th and July 6th.
Philippe Baudillon, CEO of Paris 2012, said:
"We are deeply grateful to Christophe Baratier for the generous gift of his
creativity and passion, given as a tribute to the Olympic ideal. Our Bid is driven
by the vision of uniting sport and culture and a desire to create a memorable
celebration of Olympic values. France’s roots in both are unique, highlighted
as France currently prepares to host two of the most important, highly anticipated
annual events in sport and culture -- the Roland-Garros French Open and the Cannes
The film will be accompanied by a global interactive program,
which will enable Paris 2012 fans to publicly declare their Amour des Jeux.
For this purpose, a new website www.amourdesjeux.com
has been established: visitors are invited to post a photograph and their message
of support for Paris 2012.
In addition, supporters will be able to personally record messages
endorsing Paris 2012 at temporary TV studios that will be open throughout Paris.
One such studio will invite sports fans and athletes to give a testimony of their
Amour des Jeux during the French Open Tennis Tournament at Roland-Garros, which
will take place between May 23rd and June 5th.
