Just a few hours before the final vote by the IOC members, this stage in the competition was considered crucial. Led by President Bertrand
Delanoë, and the CNOSF President Henri Sérandour, the French Delegation launched
its final presentation at the Raffles Hotel.
At 9am local time, (3am Paris time), Paris 2012 introduced its candidature, which benefits from the support of 87% of the French public. A movie of approximately
30 minutes in
duration, directed by Luc Besson, depicting the tremendous passion of the French
for Olympism, was viewed by the IOC members.
This final presentation was compared by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Jean-François Lamour, to the free-style skating element of a figure skating
competition, and essential to convince still undecided members of the IOC. Each
city has one hour to present its program.
Following Paris, New York, Moscow, London and Madrid will one-by-one reveal their "final cards" in front of the International Olympic Committee
members.
The result of the IOC vote will be announced by its President, Jacques Rogge, at 1.30pm, Paris time, on Wednesday.
