With the contest between London, New York, Madrid, Moscow and Paris, the Mayor
and President of Paris 2012 said that the International Olympic Committee (IOC)
has a "very high quality of competition". Bertrand Delanoe added that Paris is
determined to "offer an outstanding, modern and humble candidature".
Questioned by journalists after meeting UN Secretary-General Koffi Annan, Bertrand
Delanoe commented on the spirit of the Paris Bid, "Our goal is always to be professionnal,
rigorous and above all united". The Mayor said Paris 2012 has "the enthusiasm
of the people and complete backing on a political level".
Bertrand Delanoe went on to add that the verdict will not be known "until the
6th of July in Singapore", at the special International Olympic Committee session.
Bertrand Delanoe left New York a couple of hours later for Sao Paulo to take
part in a meeting for the Association "United Cities and Local Governments" of
which he is President.
