Paris 2012’s Bid: A Shared Passion and United Declaration from a Nation Focused
on "L’Amour des Jeux"
Evoking the love of sport, celebration and fraternity with the shared desire
for Olympism, the bid’s signature conveys the deep and intense relationship that
has united France and Olympism since the days of Pierre de Coubertin. In Paris,
the Games will blossom into an exceptional celebration between Olympic values
and those that have forged Paris’ identity – a combination of sporting excellence
and cultural creativity.
"One Village, Two Clusters", A Simple and Effective Organisational Concept
The Olympic Village, at the heart of Paris 2012’s concept, will be situated in
the north-west quarter of Paris known as Les Batignolles. The Village will be
located only 6 km from the two competition venue clusters which will host 75%
of the events. Dedicated Olympic lanes will connect the Village and Clusters,
leaving the heart of Paris free to celebrate Olympic festivities.
An Athlete-Focused Event
Paris 2012 designed its concept around sporting excellence, ensuring efficient
travel times to competition venues, maximum comfort in the Olympic Village, infrastructures
built on cutting-edge technology guaranteeing optimal safety and healthcare systems.
A Firm Commitment to Legacy and Sustainable Development
Looking ahead to future generations, Paris 2012 is dedicated to making the Games
a "lasting success". Its plan guarantees many long-term positive outcomes in the
environmental, economic, social and urban realms. One of its main commitments
is to fully integrate people with a disability into urban life, a decisive factor
for the cities of tomorrow.
