Full Compliance with Official Olympic Regulations
Above and beyond their firm commitment to the principles and values inherent
to Olympism, the French government and the relevant local authorities have guaranteed
that the Olympic Charter and Host City Contract will be fully abided by, as will
the Olympic Movement’s founding texts.
A Comprehensive Yet Flexible LegislativeFramework, Well-Suited to Hosting the
Games
Recent experience in hosting a series of major sporting events, including the
1992 Olympic Winter Games in Albertville, 1998 FIFA World Cup, and the 2003 IAAF
World Championships, has shown that no major changes in legislation are needed.
However, France is committed to taking any legislative or regulatory measures
that would prove necessary to the success of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Olympic Brand Effectively Protected by Law
French law explicitly recognises the Olympic brand and allows punishment (including
penal) should it be used without permission.
The Bid Committee
During the Candidature Phase, the Bid Committee is the leading body, made up
of individuals from both the public and private spheres. Its principal mission
is to prepare, present and promote Paris’ bid in France and internationally, while
safeguarding the Olympic ideal and spirit, in compliance with IOC guidelines.
The Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (OCOG)
Should Paris be chosen as Host City, the Paris OCOG, a legal structure operating
under private law, which will be an association of recognised public interest,
would become the decision-making body. Alongside it, an "Olympic Coordination
Organisation" (OCOO), responsible for coordinating and planning non-OCOG operations,
would also be established.
