"L’Amour des Jeux" Alive In Paris at D Day – 365

Exactly one year before the International Olympic Committee’s decision for the Host City of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012, Paris reflects its Olympic Passion.

The Press release (Doc - 43 Ko)
Paris, 5 July 2004 – With exactly 365 days before the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decide the Host City for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games (6 July, 2005), Paris City Hall has become the symbolic centrepiece of Paris Olympic aspirations as it was spectacularly draped in the colours of Paris 2012 - part of the biggest branding exercise ever seen in Paris.
The colourful campaign is a key part of the Paris 2012 mobilisation of national support, an important aspect in convincing the IOC of its will and capacity to become a Host City. The Bid Committee already enjoys strong backing from the Parisians and French people, along with the commitment of its political, sports and business communities.
Philippe Baudillon, CEO of Paris 2012 said: “What better way to demonstrate to the world our Bid slogan, ‘L’Amour des Jeux’ than to proudly hang it on our City Hall? We chose this slogan to reflect the synergy of needs and aspirations that Paris wants to develop with the Olympic family. Paris and France have a deep and historic love of the Olympic Games. The slogan encompasses the French passion for hosting the Games in 2012.”
The French “Amour des Jeux” will resonate during all summer in several events in the Capital City and throughout the country.
Meanwhile the Paris 2012 team of technical, transport, security and environmental experts is concentrating its efforts in preparing the strongest Candidature File possible for delivery to the IOC on the 15 November 2004.

Notes to editors on “L’Amour des Jeux”

‘L’Amour des Jeux’ is Paris’ promise to reach the highest standards demanded by the Olympic Family.
1. Athletes and spectators from around the world will be invited to celebrate together in a vibrant yet culturally rich city.
2. With the main Olympic venues housed in two clusters along the Peripherique, the beautiful city centre will have room to breathe.
3. The Olympic family will be able to travel quickly and safely between the venues, the Village and the city centre, enabling everyone to revel in the “Olympic experience”.
4. ‘L’Amour des Jeux’ leads to love and respect for the environment and sustainable development. It means also ensuring optimum security for the event, the athletes and supporters.
5. ‘L’Amour des Jeux’ is Paris 2012’s claim concerning France’s innate love of games, sport, festivities, fraternity and sharing. Importantly, it signals the commitment of the growing majority of French people to the Bid and their desire to see it succeed. The French love the Games. A third Bid for Paris in twenty years is a proof of that.
6. ’L’Amour des Jeux’ is last a promise. Paris 2012 firmly believes that the Olympic Games will benefit Paris by enriching but not draining the city. It will be an injection of energy and modernity for the whole of France. In every way, Olympics in Paris will be contained but not constrained.
