The Press release (Pdf - 44 Ko)
The Paris 2012 Corporate Club today announced that Airbus has signed on as a corporate sponsor in the bid to bring the Olympic and Paralympic Games to Paris in 2012.

Airbus represents the twelth member of the Paris 2012 Corporate Club, joining Accor, Bouygues, Carrefour, Crédit Agricole, EDF, France Télécom, Lagardère, RATP, Renault, Suez and VediorBis, and raises the current corporate contribution of the association to the Paris bid to 18 million Euros.

According to the president of the Paris 2012 Corporate Club, Arnaud Lagardère, Airbus represents a significant addition: "We now have, within the Club, 12 of the largest French multinationals, each of which brings to the table financial support and technical expertise to benefit the Paris 2012 Candidature file that will be submitted to the IOC in November. We have in place a formidable team and I warmly invite other companies to join us and contribute to the mobilization of French business community".

The CEO of Airbus, Noël Forgeard, commented: "It is essential for Airbus to support the Paris Bid, in cooperation with other businesses, and to offer its knowledge, notably, regarding air
transportation. It is with great enthusiasm that we engage Airbus and its 50,000 employees with this new challenge."

ABOUT THE PARIS 2012 CORPORATE CLUB

The French business community is showing its support for the Bid through the Paris 2012 Corporate Club. With 12 major international French company members, amongst France’s most successful corporations, the Club represents more than 50 per cent of the equity publicly listed on the French Stock Exchange, innumerable technical resources and over two million employees around the world.

Drawn to the project and convinced it can prove successful, Accor, Airbus, Bouygues, Carrefour, Crédit Agricole, EDF, France Télécom, Lagardère, RATP, Renault, Suez and VediorBis are avid supporters of the Bid and further enhance Paris 2012’s credibility.

This show of support illustrates the potential of the economic and social benefits that are available to Paris, the Il de France region and France as a whole, should Paris win the Olympics in 2012.

According to research conducted by the Boston Consulting Group, 42,000 new jobs and Euro 35 billion of additional revenue would be generated by the Paris Games. Many other organisations are anticipated to join when corporate support is widened to include small and medium sized enterprises.
