Art, sport, and Olympic ideals will be the focus of a new Paris 2012 initiative designed to reach the Olympic Family and engage supporters around the world.

The French bid committee will launch the international effort on December 20th (20/12), commemorating the unique date with a salute to L’Amour des Jeux.

Paris 2012 will call upon the international artists who live in France and who support the city in its quest to bring the Olympic Flame to Paris in 2012, asking them to create an original piece of art celebrating the Olympic values and L’Amour des Jeux.

On 20/12 at 20:12 Paris time, the bid committee will also release the inaugural issue of "L’Amour des Jeux", the official monthly newsletter of Paris 2012 that will be distributed to a global audience, including the 5000 members of the Olympic Family.

A special edition of the official Paris 2012 stamp collection will accompany the first issue of the newsletter. The stamps will feature photographs of Parisian architectural landmarks and monuments reflected in images of sporting moments, portraying the energy and drive of athletes as echoed in the iconic cityscapes.

The photographs of the artworks conveying the artists’ interpretation of L’Amour des Jeux will appear in each issue of the newsletter. To launch the first issue, Paris 2012 has called upon the internationally renowned Olympic photographer Raymond Depardon, whose pictures of past Olympic Games were exhibited at the Paris City Hall in August 2004.
