Paris Demonstration on March 10 Will Not Affect International Olympic Committee Visit

The Press release (PDF - 15 Ko)
The following is a statement made by Paris 2012 regarding the trade union demonstration scheduled for March 10.

The trade union demonstration scheduled to take place on March 10 is NOT related in any way to the Paris Bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Street demonstrations are a form of expression inherent in a democratic society where everyone has the right to express his or her position, in respect of the law.

The trade unions involved had earlier consulted with Paris 2012 and guaranteed that this demonstration will in no way impact the visit of the IOC Evaluation Commission.

Since the inception of the bid, Paris 2012 has worked in close cooperation with the French trade unions and social services representatives. These groups have been involved in the development of the Candidature File and support the Paris Bid.

Philippe Baudillon, CEO of Paris 2012, said: "All of the French trade unions want the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. They continue to cooperate with the Bid Committee and have already stated their commitment to working with the Organising Committee should Paris have the honor of becoming a host city".
