More than a hundred people representing the world of sport, local authorities, administrations and major public services concerned, as well as representatives of partner firms, attended this first meeting of the bid committee. The session was chaired by the Mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë, who is President of Paris 2012. At his side were Jean-François Lamour, Minister of Sports, Jean-Paul Huchon, President of the Ile-de-France Region, Henri Sérandour, President of the French National Olympic Committee (CNOSF), and many other suitably qualified key figures.
Philippe Baudillon, CEO of Paris 2012, and Deputy CEO Essar Gabriel, each addressed the meeting, in turn, to introduce the main points:
the budget for the bid.
the budget for the bid amounts to 24 million euros, slightly less
than the budget for Paris's 2008 bid;
the principles for the bid.
the principles for the bid, which must fully satisfy the wishes of the International Olympic
Committee (IOC), with sport and the athletes at the heart of
Paris's bid.
The spirit in which Paris wishes to meet the IOC's requirements can be summed up in
six words:
· Security
· Coherence
· Excellence
· Governance
· Heritage
· Celebration
the role of the bid committee.
This role is three-fold: to inform, to mobilise all interested parties and to take part in every step of the bid.
